ECN-105 Exploring Economics with Song Lyrics

Introductory exploration of economic concepts and ideas such as poverty, conspicuous consumption, money and wealth, taxes, through song lyrics. The course will require students to explore genres of music including folk, country, rock ‘n’ roll, hip-hop, that make reference to the economy or economic theories and ideas. Emphasis of the course is on in-class presentations, library research of economic concepts, and writing assignments that capture the nexus between chosen lyrics/songs and economic ideas and theories.
