ENG-112 Texts and Identities GER: TA (Critical, Analytical Interpretation of Texts) and IEJ (Identities, Equity, and Justice) Prerequisite: Any first year writing seminar An alternative to ENG 111, this course introduces students to the linguistic structures and rhetorical methods by which texts represent and codify marginalized identities. Texts and approaches are determined by individual instructors, but all sections focus on the social and cultural representation of identity, equity, and justice in literary and other texts–as well as the meaning of these concepts in contemporary life. Text-centered discussion and writing suitable for all Furman students. 4 credits.
