SOC-232 Sociology of Contemporary Families GER: HB (Empirical Study of Human Behavior) Prerequisite: SOC-101 Examines the institution of the family in the United States and select international case studies. Explores how race, class, gender, and sexuality shape the diversity of family experiences and the range of inequalities we see in the United States and abroad. Socio-historical variations in the definition of the family, as well as political debates surrounding it today, will be covered. 4 credits.
