Exploration of the uneven development in modern Japan. Travel to a region long considered a periphery of Japan, Okinawa, and its undisputed center, Tokyo. The contrast between Okinawa, hosting American military bases and boasting the highest levels of unemployment, and Tokyo, the undisputed center of economic, political and cultural life, is striking.
