LNG-260 The Bilingual Mind


GER: HB (Empirical Study of Human Behavior) and WR (Writing/Research Intensive)
Prerequisite: Any FYW course and 1 course from subject ”LNG”
The course presents a comprehensive introduction to the foundations of bilingualism, covering current issues in language processing, language acquisition, cognition and the bilingual brain. This course also introduces students to the methodological approaches employed in the field of psycholinguistics. Students will be able to identify and understand the core components of psycholinguistic research, describe theoretical models of language processing, and critically evaluate and discuss empirical research and its methods. This course is accessible to non-specialists with little previous exposure to the field, but prior knowledge in linguistics is preferred. 4 credit
