Latin Major

A major in Latin consists of eight courses beyond LTN-201 and must include:

LTN-202 Intermediate Latin II

At least four of the following courses:

LTN-231 Literature of the Roman Republic
LTN-232 Literature of the Augustan Age
LTN-233 Literature of the Roman Empire
LTN-234 Literature of the Late Antique and Medieval Period
LTN-235 Studies in Advanced Latin
LTN-301 Latin Prose Composition
LTN-450 Teaching Latin in Grades 9-12
LTN-504 Directed Independent Study

Up to three courses from the following may also contribute to the Latin major:

CLS-211 Classical Archaeology
CLS-221 Roman Civilization
CLS-220 Greek Civilization
CLS-231 Reading Latin Literature

The requirements for certification (teaching internship)

The requirements for certification (teaching internship) will be completed on a post-baccalaureate, graduate credit basis, with the student becoming eligible for certification at the end of fall term following graduation. Refer to the Education section of this catalog for specific requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program and other pertinent information.
