ENG-435 Culture and Politics in African Literature GER: TA (Critical, Analytical Interpretation of Texts) and WC (World Cultures) Prerequisite: any first year writing seminar A cross-genre survey of the literature of the African Continent. Attention will be paid to significant formal innovations and thematic preoccupations that define African literature. Exploring structures across literary and cultural boundaries like genre, race, gender, class and politics, in order to gain valuable insights into the relationship between literature and society, especially how texts participate in, and document the changing conditions of African societies. 4 credits.
