FYW-1315 Social Media and Body Image

GER: FYW (First Year Writing Seminar)
This seminar will explore the relationship between social media and body image, and the many ways in which social media impacts how we perceive our own and others’ bodies, as well as how our body image impacts social media usage. We will examine risk factors, protective factors as well as mediating and moderating factors of the impact of social media on body image. We will explore ways in which social media intersects with diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender, and sexuality to affect body image. 4 credits.
