CHM-120 Organic Chemistry I GER: NWL (Empirical Study of the Natural World with laboratory) Prerequisite: CHM 115 or CHM 118 but may be completed concurrently with department permission. The application of chemistry principles to carbon compounds with a focus on the physical and chemical properties of major organic functional groups. Topics include an introduction to stereochemistry, conformational analysis, synthesis, and reaction mechanisms. Laboratory activities emphasize reaction set-up, chemical analysis, and product isolation. 4 credits.
