REL-339 Dante in Translation GER: UQ (Ultimate Questions) and WR (Writing-Research Intensive) A guided tour of the afterlife, as seen through the eyes of Dante Alighieri, the fourteenth-century Italian poet, theologian, philosopher, statesman, and humanist. This course will focus primarily on reading Dante’s great epic as a way of engaging with some of life’s biggest questions: What is the purpose of human existence? What is the nature of justice? How can finite human beings attain a glimpse of transcendent truth, goodness, and beauty? 4 credits.
