EDU-215 Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in Education

GER: IEJ (Identities, Equity, and Justice) and WR (Writing-Research Intensive)
Prerequisite: any first-year writing seminar
The purpose of this course is to provide students with an interdisciplinary overview of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in education.  In accomplishing this, constructs such as race, socio-economic class, gender, and sexual orientation will be explored as part of an intersectional tapestry that reflects the role of DEI in shaping the experience of American education.  This course is especially recommended for students who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of DEI issues and their impact on society as reflected across both K-12 and higher education. 4 credits.
