MXP-213 What Games Do: Story, Meaning, and Fun in Tabletop Games

Why do people play games? Games have been part of human lives as far back as archaeology can look. Religious and political leaders have tried to ban them-without success. And yet there’s been very little exploration into their appeal, or even what they are. In this class we will consider how different disciplines evaluate and value games. And we’ll play stacks of board games to see if they’re right! May Experience ONLY. 2 credits.
