HUM-220 They Came by Water Immigrants to New Orleans Not every immigrant came to the United States through New York, and not every immigrant to New Orleans was French or Spanish. Students will explore the history of Black, Vietnamese, Jewish, Canadian, and Italian immigrants to New Orleans through their history, culture, food, religion, and music in this MayX course. The trip will include a visit to Preservation Hall Jazz, a Cajun food cooking and history class, a visit to a slave plantation, and a swamp tour. May Experience ONLY. 2 credits.
