PHL-261 Philosophy of Comics GER: VP (Visual and Performing Arts)
A philosophical investigation into the unique and surprisingly rich nature of comics, from graphic novels to manga to newspaper strips. This course will investigate the formal nature of comics and how they relate to other art forms, how they operate to convey meaning, the unique problems of massive authorship and seriality, and the roles that comics have come to fill in societies. 4 credits.
