HST-331 The Plains Indians PRQ: 1 Course in History Numbered HST 100 through 166 Examination of the history of the Plains Indians from seventeenth century to the turn of twenty-first century. The course emphasizes how climate, geography, and natural resources shaped the culture of Plains Indian societies. Course will emphasize Indian voices and viewpoints, while recognizing the revolutionary effect of European contact. Topics include the encompassing role of the bison, introduction of horses and firearms, shifting migration patterns, pandemics, and war. 4 credits
